It’s finally here! Last week, The Haute Dog Carte opened a second stand at the Colonnade. After delaying their opening due to inclement weather the day before, Wednesday was still anything but sunny. Things were a bit hectic despite the pouring rain and wind, but the guys at HDC did a great job.
The new stand is a bit smaller than the original Falls road one, but there are more places to sit outside the Colonnade. This is a perfect addition, as I usually eat in my car at the Falls road location.
I ordered the Signature Dog, of course, but ordered it with a bison dog instead of the black angus dog. This was a wise choice, as I had never had a bison dog before. The hearty and savory flavors were intensely delicious – it was much more flavorful than a regular hot dog.
Due the depressing weather, HDC was exactly what I needed. In fact, I went back the next day and ordered the exact same thing (I promise I’m not a pig!).
Amidst the food truck madness going on around Hopkins right now, I think HDC’s gourmet spin on an American favorite will stand out. Its Colonnade location is a bit isolated from the Hopkins community during the day, but if I am willing to trek up Charles street from my apartment, I’m sure many others will be as well.
(Haute Dog II Fabulous Franks at the Colonnade is open everyday, from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.)
